    Pending Transaction

An authorized but not yet finalized charge that temporarily reduces available credit.

    What It Means

Pending transactions are placeholders that reserve funds while a merchant finalizes the charge. They reduce available credit but do not yet appear on a statement or accrue interest. Hotels, rental cars, and gas stations frequently place authorization holds that are larger than the final charge; the excess is released once the transaction posts. Pending transactions cannot be formally disputed until they post.
