    Flagship Hub

    Travel & Points Credit Center

Travel rewards are the highest-yield category of credit-card spend when the redemption side is handled right. This hub covers transferable-point programs, award sweet spots, travel insurance built into premium cards, and the FX layer most travelers overpay on. Educational only, not financial advice.

    Stage 1

    Transfer partners and program economics

Amex Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Capital One Miles, Citi ThankYou, and Bilt each transfer 1:1 to airline and hotel partners at different sweet spots. The value of a point is set by what you redeem for, not by the issuer portal — 1.8–2.4 cents-per-point is typical on aspirational partner redemptions vs 1.0–1.5 cpp through cash-back or portal bookings.

    Stage 2

Award sweet spots and dynamic pricing

Fixed-award charts (ANA, Air Canada Aeroplan, Turkish Miles&Smiles, Alaska partner awards) still exist alongside dynamic programs (Delta SkyMiles, United MileagePlus, Hyatt peak/off-peak). Learning three or four sweet spots — like ANA business class to Asia — beats hoarding points in a single loyalty program.

    Stage 3

    Travel insurance and card protections

Chase Sapphire Reserve, Amex Platinum, Capital One Venture X, and United Club Card carry primary rental-car CDW, trip-delay reimbursement, trip-cancellation, baggage-loss, and cellphone protection. Charging the full trip on the right card can replace $100–$300 of standalone travel insurance per trip.

    Stage 4

Foreign transaction fees and FX strategy

US cards without a foreign transaction fee use the Visa/Mastercard interbank rate — typically within 0.2% of mid-market. Cards that charge 2.7–3% or dynamic currency conversion at a foreign terminal quietly cost more than an extra checked bag. Withdraw local cash from a debit card that reimburses ATM fees rather than paying for FX twice.
