    Credit Cards

    Secured Credit Card

A credit card backed by a refundable security deposit, designed for credit building.

    What It Means

Secured cards require a deposit-often equal to the credit limit-that the issuer holds as collateral. They report to all three bureaus, making them effective for establishing or rebuilding credit. After 6 to 12 months of responsible use, many issuers graduate accounts to unsecured cards and refund the deposit.
