    Due Date

The day each month the minimum payment must be received to avoid late fees and credit damage.

    What It Means

The due date is set by the issuer and must fall on the same calendar day each month under federal rules. Payments received after the cutoff time on the due date are typically considered late. Payments more than 30 days past due may be reported to the credit bureaus and trigger penalty APR. Setting up autopay for at least the minimum is the simplest safeguard against accidental late payments.
